The Original Plan:
The Attack:
- Chateau Thierry was fought in response to the German offensive which at that point had advanced 13 miles in one day, the furthest since the start of the war, and 37 miles out of Paris.
- General John Pershing, in command of the American troops, sent these troops to defend the bridges over the Marne river.
The Attack:
- They succeeded in defending these bridges and then continued to fight against the Germans that had crossed further east at Joulgonne and pushed these Germans back as well.

- The weapons used by the Allies in this battle were machines guns, artillery, grenades, and tanks.
